Cable TV Censorship Question

I have noticed that when The Godfather is shown on AMC, that the heavier curse words are replaced with 'other' words (However the gory R-Rated Violence, is --always-- left in...).

The other day, on Turner Movie Classics, the movie A Bridge To Far was showing, and they definitely left in the "F" word.

How do I know in advance which networks are going to censor words and which networks are not. (I prefer that for watching Dramas on Cable, that NO words are censored from the original...).

When I had the Oxygen network before going down to limited service. They did they same things. One show that had so many beeps, it made it impossible to watch. I think it was Harry met Sally and it wasn't me watching it. She called me in there to see how many beeps there were. There were a lot. I don't get why cable is using censorship that why we pay for cable. I can go rent a dvd without censorship. If it wasn't for the other person, I would most likely give up cable and rent dvds. They keep forgetting people are paying for a higher level of service, if we wanted beeps we would just have limited service. I got a response from Oxygen, they say it because a family channel. This show was recorded late a night that had all the beeps. It is ok to show blood & guts but you can't show a finger pointed a certain way-gee whiz.

Over the Memorial Day Weekend, I tuned into Palladium's showing of Woodstock, and, yes, even they were bleeping words being said.

It just ruins the whole experience ! !

What a joke, especially when you see what words, are allowed on OTA transmissions. They can say 'penis' all day long, just not "S" or "F". Oh, and they can "GD" at will.

What a F-U and perverted media landscape!

But after 10pm Comedy Central sometimes airs uncut language. I was surprised when I saw that. Makes sense because we pay for that channel.... Not like its free OTA. With today's guides you can use parental controls anyway.

Comedy central has been running promos for uncut episodes of Entourage at midnight, completely uncensored. f*ck, c*nt, s*it, it's all there.

Stations broadcast over the air (ABC,FOX,etc.) are regulated by the FCC on what type of content and language they can air, but cable is not (for the most part.) Stations on cable/satellite/fiber only have their own policies on what type of content/language can be aired, and when.
