Re: [Scam] neighbour of mine plans on... Not really a scam. More like paying someone else to list the free stuff for you. There could be value in that. There are however, many people out there who take everything they read as truthful and legit. Those people will say this is a scam, because "these are free TV stations playing on the Internet and that's free stuff! So it's wrong to have to pay for it.".
Would you say "scam" if Google was subscription based and charged your credit card for that same list? Of course not. After all, you wanted the list but had no way to access it unless you paid for it. You needed assistance and you found it. Where's the scam? |

| A good place to start is with the small print. In this case it's a jpg which can & is a red flag in regards to this scam. I'm not going to type the entire thing but here's some of it.
"This 'package' is for EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. Fees are donations for time, knowledge, research etc... Please check if streaming TV/media is legal in your area. Channels are not guaranteed, quality is not guaranteed. No refunds - no exceptions as information/knowledge cannot be refunded. Channel lineup is subject to change & provided for illustration purposes only This package is NOT a replacement for cable tv etc...
The ad talks about beating the rising cost of cable TV while also saying in the fine print that it's not a cable replacement. Your Google analogy is flawed in that it compares a free legit service with a for pay scam service. You should view the discalimer here to a full sense of the BS »www.freetvcanada-tvchannels.blogspot.com/
A partial BS breakdown without even touching on the streaming media limitations: These great channels they advertise - made me wish I lived in Canada so I could take advantage of the service & tell my cable provider where to shove it.
CANADA * Bravo! * Business News Network * Canadian Forces Radio and Television * CBC (6 Different across Canada) * CBC News Network * CHCH * CMT * The Comedy Network * CP24 * CITY TV * CPAC (English feed) * CTV News Channel * Discovery Channel * Food Network * Global TV * HGTV * History Television * MTV Canada * MTV 2 Canada * MuchMore * MuchMusic * Much LOUD * Much VIBE * MuchMoreRetro * OLN * Rogers Sportsnet ONE * Rogers Sportsnet * Showcase * Slice * Space * Star! * SUN NEWS * TELETOON * The Score * The Weather Network * Treehouse TV * TSN * TSN 2 * TVtropolis * VisionTV * Viva * W Network * YTV Turns out this list is for "illustration purposes only" Research what "illustration purposes only" means in scam-speak to further your education. It's a scam, 100% scam. |

 | We're on the same fence here. I'd go with no scam, just a very misleading advertisement for a list. The scam part is minimally small, as it's just a list that was compiled by someone. and then sold with less than stellar description.
"Fees are donations for time, knowledge, research etc..."
That's about right, considering you didn't have the info and wanted it. |

We could debate "Is scam/Not scam" until the end of time but since I got the first word in & if you look very closely I also got the last word in, I win. LOL |
