 | [Northeast] FiOS Triple Play Install w/o Software? I was thinking of going from the Optimum (Cablevision) Triple Play to the Verizon FiOS Triple Play.
However, I did not want Verizon to install any software on my computer, even if it can be uninstalled right away.
Is it required that Verizon has to install software on my computer to install the FiOS Triple Play successfully? Can they successfully install the Triple Play without installing any software at all on my desktop?
Thank you so much! |

| No - just tell the installer from the beginning that you do not want the VZ software install. Easy.
However, make sure the installer gives you the proper information before you leave - such as: your router config info; passwords; SSIDs, etc.. I only mention this because during my installation about two months ago, the installation went well, but the guy didn't mention anything to me about where to go for the 'sensitive' information. I finally found it with the rest of the software he installed.
Enjoy! |

He said he'd have to call his supervisor to get the OK. He called and let me talk to his supervisor. I told the guy, politely, I didn't want the software installed....after a minute or two the supervisor say ok.
So there you go, they don't have to install it......but they really want to!
Just be polite about it and it shouldn't be an issue.

1 edit | reply to randomphoto if i am / were forced to go the fios route i would pull out a spare computer and let them install the crapware on that . after he leaves i would just switch it (the computer itself) to my good computer and i could always wipe the OS on the spare and reinstall OS. |

There will be a notepad on your desk top with the account info that you create. your username and password @ verizon.net The exe to install the verizon Media Manager A html file that has links to some very useful VZ sites. ie the digital voice account manager , help and support..... -- My horse fights with me and fasts with me because if he is to carry me into battle, he must know my heart and I must know his or we shall never become brothers. -Plenty Coups, Chief of the Crow |

Any installer who tries will learn how well Actiontec routers fit rectally. |

I think the software does make it easier and faster for them to do your install - instead of remotely provisioning stuff from the truck. They also are probably pushed really hard to install it because it can help minimize truck rolls and tech support calls when you the end customer can click a button in the app and reboot their boxes. |

 | Thanks so much for the responses.
So if I go with the FiOS Triple Play, I should just tell the tech that I do not want ANY software installed on my desktop, and insist that it's not required to set up any of the services, if he says otherwise? Thank you! |

Pretty much. Just make sure you get all the imperative information needed for your service as I posted before.
You'll be fine.
Good luck and let us know how you make out, guy! |
