| slow and erratic internet speed I am running windows xp pro with ie7. I have a new ubee cable modem and have been told the signal to my modem is good. I have 18mbps service, but speed test rarely get above 10. My uploads are usually around 2. I do have a wirleless router wich I have tried test with being hooked up through it and with out. Generally the test are a little better with it unhooked. My girlfriend has a laptop and when she is connected via wirleless her internet runs much faster. I am wondering if it is my computer and if I need to tweed something or run some sort of scan to find a problem. I have run every scan I can think of, but maybe I am running the wrong one. I have tried AdAware, Spybot, Malwarebytes, and my AVG. Some times I have to restart my computer to get on the internet. It has also been getting progressively worse for the last few weeks. Any ideas out there. Or should I pay for one of those online test or take it to a shop. Thanks for any help I can get. |
