I'm guessing what you probably have is about 10 Mb down and 768Kb up? If so, the value you entered in the tool for your download speed is off by a factor of 10 as evidenced by the results remark "We have no recommendations for 64k lines", meaning slower than a 56k dialup line. Also, does Embarq require PPPoE login at the modem or router?. If so you need to account for that as well when inputting your connection properties. |

You didn't answer my main question. What is your DSL speed package? You don't need to worry about your RWIN unless the tool results suggest changing it. The main problem with the results you got back from the tool were due to the fact that you didn't provide the correct value for your download speed. 10Kb is not correct. |

Those speeds do not seem all that bad.
Let's start here, but answer all the questions.
Download DrTcp
Set Tcp Receive Window to 63888
Set Windows Scaling, Time Stamping, Selective Acks, Path MTU Discovery, Black Hole Detection to Default.
Leave Max Duplicate Acks and TTL Blank
Using the drop-down menu in The Doctor set your NIC’s (Ethernet adapter’s) MTU to 1492.
Save/Exit DrTcp
Reboot
Rerun the Tweak Test
Run Two Speed Tests from the two DIFFERENT cities nearest to you that are listed here: Speakeasy POPs
Also, test here »ftp://ftp1.optonline.net/test512
Note your transfer rate after about 30 seconds. Then cancel the download.
Post the URL for the New Tweak Test. For the TWO Speakeasy Tests, Copy and Paste the speed results from those tests and note the speed from the FTP download test.

Wash. DC 4.46 down 0.72 up
I clicked on the one test says it does not recongize MIME file type sende me to Window Live Search & shows different programs I can download to open MIME file. Any suggestions? Thank`s, John |
