Re: Why a cap? Well, you're certainly putting your money where your mouth is, I respect that.
I think we'll look back in 5 years and view unlimited broadband as an anomaly whose time is past, kind of like AOL. Every other facet of networking charges for bandwidth or capacity in some way, it was just the last mile where it was easier to just make it "unlimited" rather than put the work in to measure it, because the vast majority of customers didn't use much.
Now Netflix has really broken that model with cheap legal high-quality movie downloads that are easy to subscribe to and use. Suddenly the average utilization is way up. So the carriers need to respond.
It's kind of like how music sharing was an underground thing until Napster came along and made it easy and popular. Then the content owners reacted. |
