 | reply to thorataz Boy! Those must be some little hole in the wall towns? Lived in MI most of my life and haven't heard of hardly any of those places!! -- The Firefox alternative. »www.mozilla.org/projects/seamonkey/ |

bcsman join:2010-09-07 Capac, MI | Yep, many are in the middle of the thumb, our village is around 2,000. And I live a couple miles outside the village so surprised I even qualify but have verified online and through telephone contact. |

slimtim join:2002-12-12 Coldwater, MI | Gotta hand it to Frontier, they sure are ramping up the DSL Deployments.
It sure shows you what Verizon wasn't doing for those areas....
Now if I could get them to add some more Remote DSLAM's (hint hint ..around my area would be nice

 | reply to cork1958 Yeah, Fruitport is where it is happening. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 1,124. (»en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fruitport,_MI) |

kujars join:2005-05-21 French Creek, WV | reply to thorataz Gratz to you guys in MI. I wish there was more on the WV deployments here though. We are kinda left in the dark till the last min |
|
 | I suppose this is all archaic equipment and 3mb x 768 maximum speeds? And 99% of the people who purchase this 'up to' package will really see a peak speed of 2mb x 400kbps which will fall to 200kbps x 10kbps during prime time 8pm -11pm?
How about a real broadband option. |
|
 | reply to kujars kujars you are right about being left in the dark ! Frontier is to worried about taking care of the cities and larger towns around here! I am going to cancel my land line and use my cell and I am using the Rev A for internet and Verizon will be deploying the LTE soon and then I wont need to have any use for frontier!! |
|
bcsman join:2010-09-07 Capac, MI | reply to SlowSpeed Wow, might seem trivial to you but if you're used to dialup speeds the above quoted speeds will seem pretty good to most of us!! Yes fiber, cable, and other "real" broadband options would be grand, but as it stands whatever Frontier is deploying is good news to us hicks....sure beats what Verizon provided for us---NOTHING.. |
|
 | reply to DaSham58 Frontier is busting ass here in Jackson County WV, they are literally everywhere. From what one of the reps on the phone said is that just about all of this county will have DSL by June this year. What sucks is my brother lives 10+ miles from Ripley in the middle of no where and he is having it installed today, while i live 4 miles from town and am stuck with a crappy WISP until April. |
|
 | At least you do have a date! We haven't herd anything here in Putnam county what is bad is I have Frontier DSL 1 mile and Suddenlink cable 1 mile from where I live and neither one will come the last mile and there is over 300 family's in my neighborhood! Suddenlink told us it would take $40.000 to run the extra mile and Frontier act like they don't want to be bothered with it. Like I said I am waiting for the Verizon LTE hopefully not to long! |

 | reply to thorataz Can any new customers in these new areas (particularly northern MI "tip-of-the-mit" towns) tell me how the service is? Currently I'm stuck paying $60/month for 1Mb cable modem that slows to half that in the evening and has a phantom "acceptable usage" cap that has gotten me harassment from the ISP twice already (though they won't actually tell me what the cap is or give me any way to track my usage). It's a horrible situation and Frontier looks like a huge improvement on paper. But I've been reading horror stories all over the internet about Frontier's own download caps, slow downs, and generally poor service, so I'm hesitant to make the jump and find that I'm just going from bad to worse. Any thoughts? |
|
 | I have it in Vesteburg Michigan. It's absolutely atrocious.. it literally slows to a 100kbps x200kbps (yes the uploads are faster than the downloads most of the time) after 4-5pm every day. Paying for a 3mb x 768 package.
All of my neighbors with it are also experience the same issues, it's completely oversold. They're trying to sell two T1's bonded to hundreds of people.
Frontier is terrible. |

|
 | reply to thorataz How much upstream bandwidth does Frontier have out of those areas? Minimum GbE? |
|
 | reply to thorataz How much bandwidth in rural areas if Frontier deploying their new DSLAMs into the core internet peering IX'es of ORD, MKE, MSN, AZO, GRR, LAN, DTW, in MI? I assume the U.P. the bandwidth is going through Wisconsin and the north is back-hauled down to Grand Rapids or Saginaw. |

i am really really hoping that i can get dsl. being stuck on satellite internet i will take any dsl package that they can offer me Just got mine installed last week, 3 miles northwest of Capac. Working nicely here so far, just keeping my fingers crossed. Was informed by a tech we saw Imlay City was having some problems and would be a little longer before turning on. I would also call Frontier CS and find out if you qualify from them. Don't always trust the internet info they post.. |

just have to cross my fingers and wait. i have been waiting for a real internet connection to be available at my house ever since the internet went main stream |
