Re: [Sci-Fi] Best Star Trek Film. said by Omega:It was technically Admiral Riker. How one can be an Admiral after spending over 15+ years as a Commander is beyond me. You did not pay attention to the beginning or ending of ST: NEMISIS also known as ST:X. Commander Riker was promoted and givien a new ship, the USS Titan, and his Imzadi, Commander Diana Troi, was to be his wife and counselor on the Titan. However, a situation had arisen whereby the Enterprise was ordered to Romulus to meet with the new Pro-Counsel. The marriage of Riker and Troi was put off until the end of the mission. It was this movie where Commander Data was killed in action, thereby negating any chance of him being the future presented by Q in the final TNG episode ...All Good Thins. So in the alternate time-line, it is very conceivable that Will Riker is an Admiral, given the time that had transpired (i.e. - more than 30+ years). Also too, it is the beloved or hated Q (John deLancie) who is making all this time traveling possible.
Further, Captain Jean-Luc Picard was married to Captain Beverley Picard for 25 years before they divorced. Captain Beverley Picard kept the last name of Picard instead of reverting to Crusher, in the future timeline presented by Q. -- Perhaps TODAY IS a good day to die! For having a Federation logo on for your avatar, you sure don't make a whole lot of sense, Trek wise.
My quote was correcting a post that someone was referencing to the TNG finale, "All Good things." Here is the quote:
quote: Capt. Picard kept leaping back and forward in time. There is a scene where "Capt. Riker" shows up in a futuristic Enterprise and saves Beverly Crusher's medical ship.
As for your statement, I am well aware that Riker was finally promoted to Captain at the end of Nemesis. Where my comment comes from is that in any other military branch, if you spend that much time in the service without getting promoted, then chances are you will never get promoted. In other words, it was unrealistic to keep Riker as a commander for the 7 seasons of TNG and then the years in which the movies took place. -- Whats smells like blue? | |
