Re: [Networking] Evening Lag Spikes in Live Games Mine go's up in the evening but doesn't make the game unplayable unless me and my wife get on at the same time and then it gets to bad to play but even then our pings only get up to around 5 or 6k which is beyond being playable anymore. I don't know what area you are in but my guess would be you are on a transponder that is more crowded than ours and that is likely causing your trouble but I don't know for sure. There are alot of people around here on hughes but most of them are still on the old systems which is why I opted to upgrade.
I too can do anything except play mmorpg's when the pings get bad because congestion will affect latency actually before it affects your speed much which means downloads and streaming will often still work fine even when you can't play those games simply because you get a double whammy on those games with your satt. latency and the games server congestion latency. As for why your latency numbers go into orbit is beyond me. I have given some thought to that and for the life of me I can't figure any reason for your pings to get that far up there aside from the afore mentioned traffic throttling.A ping of 4000 and sometimes less makes the game unplayable for us and we average 1500 most of the time in wow during non prime time. -- HughesNet elite plan/.74 dish w/1watt trans. / 9000 modem / 3 computers on a linksy's wired network |
