It may be useful to try to capture a user-mode dump of the explorer.exe crash.

You can configure Windows to create user-mode dumps. Create a System Restore Point first.

If you copy and paste the following in Notepad and save as a .reg file, then right-click the .reg file and select "Merge" to add to the registry, a .dmp file from a crash should be created in the C:\CrashDumps folder:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps\Explorer.exe]
"DumpFolder"=hex(2):43,00,3a,00,5c,00,43,00,72,00,61,00,73,00,68,00,44,00,75,\
00,6d,00,70,00,73,00,00,00

After explorer.exe crashes, can you then attach the .dmp file from the crash to a post in this thread.

It may help to try this on two of the computers having the issue.

More info on collecting user-mode dumps:

The problem may be the GROOVEEX.DLL which adds the "Shared Folder Synchronization" option to the Desktop and folder context menu.

The GROOVEEX.DLL is part of Office 2010's Microsoft SharePoint Workspace.

Are you using Microsoft SharePoint Workspace?

In any event you can try disabling this shell extension with ShellExView and see if it helps.

There are steps in the following link from a user who experienced a right-click delay with the same extension:

»shellfix.nirsoft.net/fix_shell_p···VEEX.DLL

OK, good luck with that.

If problems persist post back and include new dump files if you can.

There a quite of few third party dlls loaded when explorer crashes.

Do you recall if the problem started after installing any new software applications or drivers?
