Re: YouTube continued struggles

Could this be accomplished at the router level, or would it have to be on each client?
Depends on the router but in most case probably not. The router only knows of the ppp assigned dns servers and the same goes for the built-in dhcp server. Most routers allow you to statically assign dns but rarely beyond primary and secondary.

I am just not sure that will fix my YouTube issues unless by dumb luck the Qwest DNS server is offline and it then defaults to the second one.
Depends on what the issue is. If Qwest dns is slow to respond or not responding to a query then it will work. If it is responding with the wrong ip address then it's still a problem. It works for me but I'm not using Windows.

Very good... thanks for the info. You definitely gave me some things to try. I am going to try it on one of my machines tonight and if that is successful, dive into a router based solution. I am running DD-WRT on a Linksys box, so I am confident if I can get it to function directly on one of my Windows based machines, I can get it working on the router as well.

I am not too sure how it will play out, as your you say, depends on the issue whether the DNS is slow or not responding, or if something else with the route is messing up the works. Regardless I will report back what I find either way.

Again, thanks!
