That's what mine looked like. Kind of hard to put a DSL filter in there. I took all but the connected one out.

What are the advantages/disadvantages of an in-NID filter versus a separate NID-like whole house filter?

Secondly, if they are similar, is this something I can hit up my friendly line tech for or does AT&T sell them?

I think it's already been mentioned in this thread that the NID filters may have better electronics. I just like the neatness of not having to worry about putting filters everywhere.
