Re: [BREAKING NEWS] Gas Line Explosion in San Bruno

45 homes wiped out, so far 2 people dead (more to come I suppose as the fires get contained), dozens in the hospital, over 300+ fire crew out fighting.

Freaking tragedy.

I was down over by the Sees candies store on El Camino a mile and a half away, as the crow flys, and noticed some constant sirens for a long period of time. I had no idea what was gong on till I got home.

On TV it looked like the So Cal brush fires, something I have a long history with. so far 53 homes lost, and 120 damaged. I think all but a handful of those homes had good evacuation warnings so I am not expecting the loss of life count to escalate much. Can you imagine though? Everything you own, gone in an hour. All you have are the cloths on your back and worries about where your going to be sleeping moving forward.

We used to live only a few blocks from that explosion site, on Crestwood Drive off of Sneath Lane, man, when I saw that it really hit home! Please pray for those affected by this, it is such a horrible tragedy!

Looking at the day after pictures makes me wonder how many
more pipelines are vulnerable to this. These high pressure
pipelines have been buried for decades.

How much more stress has been put on them from the many
'quakes they've endured? I really doubt we want to know.

I'd wager PG&E knows more than they're telling. A lot more.

Makes ya go hmmmm....

Yeah, we can expect lots of people getting all worried about pipelines after a bad event has happened. Too bad people will forget about it soon enough.

Seems like they did know. But it looks like rate hikes are part
of the deal. Like we didn't see that one coming.

The infrastructure is old and needs work, and no one wants to pay for it. Expect this to continue...
