if you use the "firefox" browser you should use the "noscript" addon with it..
i am not sure what you mean when you say that you recently started using a "modem".. 
personally, i use a lot of custom firewall-rules to block access to a lot of ip addresses that host malware.. i also use a "HOSTS" file to try to block malicious URL's..
also, i try to be informed about vulnerabilities and try to address them.. in addressing vulnerabilities, sometimes you have to update programs, where the updated versions of the programs address the vulnerabilities that they have..
this forum can help you to be informed about vulnerabilities so that you will know to address them, as best as you can.. |

Thank you redwolfe_98 for info. Like I said to La Luna I was using a dial up service and recently went with HSI and purchased the SB6120 modem. I am using the Internet Explorer and am very seriously thinking about going over to FireFox. |
