If you consider all of the Android devices on Verizon (which are officially branded as Droids):

Motorola:
Droid
Devour
Droid X
Droid 2
Droid Pro

HTC:
Droid Eris
Droid Incredible

I agree that all of them have different places in the market. You have a choice between different types of keyboard and screen sizes, but it is rather annoying that they keep coming out with a new one almost every month.

It doesn't really matter. Its all the same OS although some have more recent versions and it takes 2 minutes to be up and running with out missing a beat on any of these phones from any other droid espcially if you have a google mail account.
