This was true until recently. I was shocked about 2 yrs ago when I got my LG env 2 and Verizon DIDN'T take out my ability to send pictures from it using bluetooth and didn't take out my ability to sync it using BitPIM over bluetooth. Follow that up with choosing Android phones and lately I'm shocked at what they allow.
Not that I applaud them for restricting anything, mind you. They should really just let us pay for data tethered or not on these phones without an extra monthly fee. Everyone would fricken use it, they'd get more money, and everybody wins.
But no, they refuse to take more money from me, which is why at this rate I don't think I'll be willing to buy a smartphone from them or any other carrier. |

join:2005-05-17 | If you do get another basic phone from them, you may want to check up first: 2 years ago, like you, my phone didn't have anything BitPim-related blocked, but as of a year ago the new phone my wife got (both LGs) did indeed have BitPim syncing blocked.
It's the major reason I've been sticking with my old reliable VX8300 as long as possible. |

I Agree with Ssavoy. I had VZW and they were phone nazi locking down everything and charging/forcing you to download through verizon only. At least with BB and Android phone we can have some freedom. Verizon does have great service where i'm at but it wasn't worth paying up you know what for their services.
ATT IPHONE cost me $75 a month with voice, data, sms.....
VZW BB Storm cost me $125 for the voice, data, sms ....sigh |
