Until it's as easy as a TiVo

the majority won't switch.

Some friends of mine who are not techies just dumped cable and are doing Netflix only with Roku. They said they don't miss cable at all.

I'm doing Netflix, Hulu and a bunch of other Playon channels via PS3 and might dump cable soon. Once Sony, etc. gets into the game and profiles this, the mainstream will be jumping on the streaming video bandwagon.

I agree 100%

There are other roadblocks to also consider. Sports programming is hard to find live online streams, especially for local pro teams. Some of these live streaming sites are less than legal. If you want to download shows without commercials off of torrent sites, you have to know that side of things.

The only reason why I haven't cut the cord yet is due to sports programming. I love watching college football, NFL football, NHL hockey, some MLB action, etc. Almost all of this stuff you can find online, but it takes a lot of knowhow and digging. That and getting it in 1080i resolution is near impossible online.

Sure, people are cutting the cord here on DSLR. Ask regular Joe's and you will get a different answer.

I completely agree with you. I can't give up the sports and the HD. And beyond that really nothing will change until we get a la carte pricing.

Counting all the locals, sports, kids, discovery, etc, my entire family probably watches a grand total of 30-40 channels of what we get in our "package(s)"...

Live sports broadcasting is the magic tipping point, it seems.

Once live sports makes it to "OTT" (TV via Internet), it's over.

I think that's it!

It will take about 5-10 years, but it will happen soon.
