So who hooks up the cable for TekSavvy when a client orders their cable internet? I am moving to an apartment building were Rogers cable disconnects the cable in a locker room that they only have access to.

It's a Rogers contractor that does the hookup.

Any updates on the situation in Chatham with Cogeco? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was told that there is an issue with ARIN and a block of IPs that need to be filled? I'm very anxious to switch from Cogeco to TSI.

You're correct in your assumptions, but I hope we'll get resolution shortly and have things done soon!

@ Rocky:

Excited about the cable offerings and tried to verify my area for cable.
coming up "not available".... despite my having had a Videotron TV/Net connection for a few years until I switched foolishly to the cheaper and suckier Bell. (UGH!)

My question is: does this have to do with TSI not having routing equipment at the head-end for my area yet? or is the web form incorrect? (as the Videotron one often was, telling me I couldn't possibly have their service already)

postal code J0N1E0 if you're curious.

TIA

Rocky - Am I correct in thinking that we probably won't see Cogeco territory online until probably sometime next year? Are there any updates as of yet or are we at the same stand still? I'm tired of handing my money over to Cogeco every month for lame cap limits

I don't suppose you'd like to put a ball park date on that?

Sales/tech rep said hopefully by end of year...?

Anyway.. Wasn't sure which thread to reply to, since there are a handful.. this one seems as good as any..

With the eventual move into Cogeco-land (which I'm desparately awaiting), I noticed that some other 3rd party cable reseller that sells on both rogers and cogeco (not in oakville though *cry*), seem to have TWO lists of supported modems..

Will the case be the same with TSI?

I was planning to buy the sb6120 (actually, I wouldn't mind buying it from TSI if they'll give me the $20 credit when I *can* switch to TSI in oakville).. but I noticed the sb6120 is not on that other provider's supported list (actually, it's not on EITHER list, but another forum said someone got them to add their sb6120 ... presumably on the Rogers-side..)

This highlighted a bit of a concern..

Should I pre-buy the modem, to use on another cable provider until TSI finally comes to oakville? (will it be supported under Cogeco..??)

Or am I stuck with cogeco and their 'provided modem' (where the rental charge is built into the service price)..?

I'm hoping it's not the latter...

Rocky - When should we be able to start placing orders? I'm getting anxious now LOL. Are you thinking sometime before Christmas or just the start of the new year? As what I've read so far, I would have to give Cogeco 30 days notice. Do you have any suggestions on making this a relatively smooth transition and if I need to tell them anything specific before I tell them to hit the road? FYI, I live in Chatham and I'm on your waiting list :P

@cgocable.net

I also would like an update on the situation with Cogeco. I had TSI threw Bell, but at my new place, the line are total shit, so had to jump off the cliff with cogeco. Would love to be back home with TSI again.

I heard through the grape vine that it should be the first week in January that we should see some action. I'm glad that we will finally have a choice!

One important question - the usage based billing that Bell is planning on imposing - could that affect Teksavvy's Cable service or is the bandwidth agreement done directly with Cogeco? I hope that won't affect the service or impose any bad limitations.
