Re: [Rant] Walmart Site to Store I don't know why anyone would want to use Walmart's "Site to Store".
It is not Walmart's main business, just a sideshow.
---------------------------
One can get just about anything shipped to the home, from Amazon.
That's Amazon's full-time 100 percent business.
No, they are not perfect by any means, but they run a pretty good show. |

Every day I see items being handled roughly by our selectors. They continually throw the items on the pallet to be delivered to the store without any regard to the delicacy of the item. The item then gets loaded on the truck with the other stack of items to be delivered to the store and then it ends up in your hands in less than adequate condition. And those people probably wonder why they don't get much more than minimum wage. |

 | reply to r81984 said by r81984:They delivered my order to the wrong store and they said it was damaged. Then they play games by saying we can either give you a refund or create a new order for you. I told her to fulfill my current order and deliver it by its original date. She said she will try to get it shipped to the store by Fed Ex but she could not guarantee it. I had the same problem recently (a bicycle). I thought shipping to the store would use their internal freight system which would treat the shipment more carefully than FedEx.
Instead, they used FedEx to deliver it to the store and it was beat to crap. All they could do was tell me to order again over the web site. They acted like "site to store" is a different company. I had the same reaction you're having.
To make matters worse, when I went to order a second item it was out of stock. I couldn't get the store to help me find out if Walmart was getting more in stock. The store just wanted me to leave, saying they're not "site-to-store."
In my case, it turned out ok. I got 30% off the damaged bike which I was able to fix up (straighten the wheel, chase dinged threads, remove the brand stickers that were scuffed up). And 20% off a new bike (which should be delivered to the store in a day or two, this time through their internal freight system).
I made a lot of complaints. I'll never forget the asst. store manager who told me I should call 800-wal-mart and, if I feel they don't care, I can escalate it there. I said "well... I get the feeling you don't care. So, let's start the escalation here. Who's your manager?" The look on her face was precious.
Her manager (the store co-manager) wasn't much better. But, I think it was my threat of going to her manager that got her to accept my offer of 30% off the damaged bike. She was glad to get me out of her hair.

| reply to r81984 Wal-Mart.com is operated out of California I believe, not Arkansas.
Site to store **IS** a joke. I ordered a weed eater recently because none of the stores in a 50 mile area had any in stock. It took THREE weeks for the item to arrive, only to find out it had been sent to the closest store 21 miles away.
When I got to the store (21 miles away). they could not find the item. I got store management involved, and it looks like they SOLD MY WEEDEATER in the store instead of holding it for pickup for me (store to store).
Needless to say, I was pretty pissed. finally I got the manager to transfer me one from another store to the store where I actually lived at.
No reason an item should have taken THREE weeks to ship......Looking back at the original order, there was no mistake in stating I wanted it shipped to MY store. Just a Wal-Mart screwup.
And you gotta laugh at store-to-store express.....They'll get it to the store FASTER for $14.95 a year. What a joke. if its site to store, why should it take LONGER? If they can ship it faster for $$$$, they should ship it FASTER for nothing.
It just comes on the daily trucks they receive. |

(Hopefully they lose money.).
I don't expect much from Walmart. You get what you pay for. The first bike was a smoking deal even before the discount. About a $250 bike for $120. I got it for $80. (The only caveat is that you have to completely disassemble a Walmart bike because even the factory assembly can't be trusted. No grease in the bearings. Metal shavings in the bearings. And, never, ever trust an in-store assembly.).
I wasn't upset until the store started distancing itself from any responsibility to escalate and resolve the problem.
I'm almost hoping the bike in transit is damaged. Between the 20% off (to compensate me for the first bad experience) and the 30% off to compensate me for damage (like I got on the first bike), it would be almost free!

 | said by Subaru:walmart switched to FedEx to do site to store stuff something about not wanting to deal with UPS and unions.. Apparently not for all site-to-store. My first one (3-4 weeks ago) was clearly FedEx. The "track order" showed FedEx throughout the process.
This one (placed 10 days ago) shows a different type of tracking. Not much detail. Just a generic "your order will be shipped the following way" (with images of a sort facility, delivery facility and store). The status only shows "arrived at sort facility, departed sort facility, arrived delivery facility."
It's my impression this one is being delivered through their normal process to stock the store's inventory.

 | reply to Subaru said by Subaru:could be delivered via walmarts internal delivery ... I think that's what's happening. The status was updated mid Saturday to say it arrived at the delivery center on the other side of town. It hasn't been updated yet today to say it's out for delivery.
I bet it just sits there until the normal delivery of stock to my local store (once or twice a week).
I was thinking they may have sent it this way because this order was related to the recent problem order delivered/damaged by DedEx. But, Walmart's online tracking system accommodates this form of shipping. It must not be too unusual.
Makes me wonder the criteria they use to choose one or the other.
