Besides, I already have a couple of 10 Mbit ISA NIC's anyway, and if worse comes to worst, I even have an old external NIC that actually connects to the LPT port of a computer. It's only 1 Mbit (ECP/LPT Limitation) but it would provide at least some type of network connection to the system. |

That's crazy talk. Imagine the guy who collected hundreds for no reason in particular when they were given away for free. |

| reply to EveryName I dont see any of those that sold at that price.
I did see this: »cgi.ebay.com/486-DX-2-66-MHX-Com···acaafc35 486 DX 2 66 MHX Computer Dos 6.22 Win 3.1 Floppy CD-ROM Sold for $510. I guess there are a few stupid people out there with a lot of money to waste.
»cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-IBM-76-486-···d8ad07e3 Vintage IBM 76 486 Desktop Computer SCSI Based Sold for $50
It looks like most of the vintage computers do not sell at all. I guess it all depends on if the right sucker sees your auction. -- Your behavior is inconsistent with your desire to be treated like everyone else. |

| reply to GunnarDanne I guess that computer is around 20 years old. Back in 1991 I had a summer job at a large rum distillery where I was running a chemical process simulation for a special project at college. They had this ultra fast 486DX computer which I am not sure if it was 25 or 33 MHz. It was probably the fastest PC they had at the time and the IT guy brought it from somewhere else in the plant just for running the simulation. They already had a nice computerized control system with graphical interface but I guess they were running that off a larger computer or a network intefaced with PLCs and all sorts of devices for controlling the distillery. |

I can find PII and PIII systems free or dirt cheap all over the place, but when it comes to anything older, even a Pentium 166 Mhz, they are next to impossible. |

| reply to MJimLay There are several on Ebay. I dont understand why you have such a hard time finding them.
All the ones that have the high buy it now also have or best offer. If you look at completed items they do not sell so just offer a few bucks. -- Your behavior is inconsistent with your desire to be treated like everyone else. |

A system like that should just barely be capable of playing back MP3s in real time, with the right software. On my 486dx33, I had to use an option to limit the quality on playback (not really noticeable).
