[Fixed] Nutel Broadband Oklahoma City

I searched the forum and saw a few old posts from back in 2009 about this fixed wireless company. Apparently they are working with skytel for equipment but I haven't seen any real reviews of their service.

Reason I'm asking is because they've been marketing door to door here in remote Oklahoma city and promising speeds of 4.5mb/s down and up. My parents have Wavelinx and experience frequent dropouts in service and lots of packet loss. Wavelinx says nothing is wrong with their connection. Any one have any experience with Nutel? Their website and marketing techniques seem a little shady to me.

Thanks,
Jay

I understand Nutel operates in other states as well but can't find any information on that either. Anyone with Nutel in another state that would be willing to share their experiences?

I cannot speak for Nutel Broadband. But we do cover most of Oklahoma City and surrounding areas. We use solely Motorola Canopy gear and are making upgrades to the network all the time.

I have had Nutel service since September of 2009 and it has performed extremely well. They sell it as a 4.5 Meg service for $34.95. I get a pretty steady 3+ up and down.

Have the phone service too. Unlimited Internet and unlimited phone for $59.95 can't be beat. I am saving more than $50 per month since I switched.

Over the past few months many of my neighbors have switched to Nutel also. Seems they are delivering on their claims.

I've had Nutel wireless for about 6 months; at first we got 3Mbs down, now I'm lucky to get 2Mbs. Tonight it's testing at .4.
They've swapped the roof unit, said they're working on the towers, etc. But I only saw 3Mbs for about 6 weeks.

Sad thing is there's not any better option where I live, outside OK City.

I think they're making an honest effort to make it better, but the technology just isn't there yet I guess.

Hmmm.... Not a signed user and a glowing review, smells like spam to me?

I've had Nutel for about 9 months now and I'm less than a mile from their antenna with a straight view to the tower. Most of the time I'm running less than 1 with an occasional boost of 2. Left Atlink because they kept dropping packets. Could go to satellite but way too expensive and still slow. Not much choice.

Appreciate the feedback guys. Well, I guess I'll stick with wavelinx until we get clearwire or something better out here in the Deer Creek area. The connection can go from good at best to very crappy within the span of a half hour.

Right now I'm getting 1.5 down and 100k up as advertised but the connection sucks for some reason (probably the packet loss). As of right now I'm typing this post on a tethered sprint EVDO connection which is leaps better than I was getting with the wavelinx today. I've called and had them come out to check my end and they said all my hardware was performing well and denied that there was any problem on their end. Funny thing is they ran speed and ping tests. The speed test was 1.5 as usual and the ping test was completely perfect 100%. I think they were pinging one of their servers which would obviously screw up the results. When I ping test global web servers I'm seeing unacceptable packet loss.
