Re: [ NJ] Christie kicking some butt in trenton I'm actually pretty happy with him. Many of my family members are in the education field and view all the benefits as entitlements regardless of performance. The unions have far to much sway in NJ and I am pleased they are getting a snoot full. I have to scrimp and save for my retirement and they get a magic carpet. Fuck them, fuck the unions and their socialist crap. -- Nothing is so bad that a nice warm bowl of creamed corn can't fix |

 | Maybe you should have been a teacher. What's that? Being paid $42k/yr to handle 20 misbehaving kids isn't enough money for you?
Maybe the benefits make up for the lousy pay and job. |

Maybe the benefits make up for the lousy pay and job. not sure what NJ u live in but 40k/10 months is the starting salary for almost every public teacher position ive seen. being in the union has, until for some this year, been a guaranteed 2.5-4.5% annual raise, on top of generous benefits worth as much as $5k. also remember that they work 10 months instead of 12. plus the almost automatic wage levels for enhancing personal education regardless of quality or ability. got a masters from Online University, founded 2001? $7-10k raise! plus many districts do tuition reimbursement where upon many teachers now apply for and possibly get jobs in other districts after completing their degree program! on top of all of that...TENURE! -- »valid.canardpc.com/cache/screens···7860.png |

 | Hey, Bobcat, don't you live in the heart of Republican country up there in Bedminster? Only time will tell you that you are wrong. I can't and won't do anything to try. |

Maybe the benefits make up for the lousy pay and job. Why argue, the guy obviously is not willing to concede that it's a real pain in the ass of a job that you take home with you. And $40K in NJ is crap, BTW. The raise amounts to what, a COLA? And we should be jealous because they get a decent health plan (it's not "cadillac", those pay full out of network and have little or no deductibles).
But hey, just like Corzine and the other Dems swindled the voters, Christie will too. There will be no property tax cuts, there will be no war on corruption.
Everyone who's buying Christie's "straight talk" and "small government" BS is just hearing what they want to hear, and hoping that he'll bring some massive change to this sewer of a state. He's not going to actually change much of anything. And he's certainly not sincere.
It is incredibly amusing to see how easily the right (whatever that is these days) hears three or four keywords and then decides a candidate is a "good guy". The people that generally mock others for naivety are totally full of it with all this new tea party/small government hot air.
Buying into what this guy's selling is being a sucker. -- with every mistake we must surely be learning |

1 edit | reply to Somnambul33t Another Christie campaign promise goes down the toilet. Last fall, Christie said:
said by Chris Christie, 9/15/09 : [Governor Corzine's] Wall Street borrow-and-spend budget gimmicks have failed. It is time for him to go.
But yesterday, Christie announced he's going to borrow $1.4 billion to pay for transportation projects. That makes no sense. 95% of our transportation spending goes to pay back outstanding loans. 95%!!!
So he criticises someone for borrow-and-spend budget gimmicks, then implements his own borrow-and-spend budget gimmicks. What an asshole.
