North York, ON | Challenge: 50 MM shots only From the discussion in this thread: »I am planning a project: shoot for a week with a 50MM only it has been suggested to make this a challenge and see what we can come up with.
Here is the challenge:
1. Shoot at 50 mm If you have a SLR use a 50 mm lens or just use 50 mm zoom only. This is open to point and shoots, but not sure how many of them show the mm of zoom. Yes, we know on crop sensors and P&S's 50mm does not equal 50mm on full frame that is part of the challenge!
2. Any content
3. No limit on the number of submissions
4. Challenge ends Friday April 23 at 18:00 eastern (two weeks + day)

kudos:6 | the idea behind the challenge is to lock yourself into a FL. in this case, a 50mm. If you have a 50mm on a crop, you use it. if you have a 50mm on a FF, use it. If you have both, do what you want. it's not like there's any prize money.

If the EXIF data says 50mm? Does that make sense?

No it doesn't. 50mm lenses are 50mm lenses. All the crop factor does is change the field of view.
For this exercise to work, just set your focal length to 50mm (for zooms) on crop cameras; if you have a prime 50mm just use it on either full frame or crop cameras.
The only important thing is that your lens focal length is 50mm. |

I got some done in the afternoon and I did some late last night in the dark. I was just shooting some now at my wife's suggestion.
