Re: Same as always from Google

Isn't that the truth. Google seems to be trying to figure out how to make money outside of search(advertising).

Youtube, they bought it but still can make any money from it. Google docs......thud. Chrome browser....thud.
Now the nexus one looks nice, but I'm thinking they are going to have a tough time making any significant money from it.

Next up Chrome OS......? I'm thinking thud here as well.

I love the fact they are trying but outside of search, Google is having a hard time playing in everyone else sandbox.
They are keeping everyone else on there toes which is a good thing.

How is the Chrome browser "thud"? It may be nowhere near the penetration of Firefox, or of the combined IE penetration (IE6 through IE8), but it's steadily gaining market share.

It may not have been a home run type of success, but it's hardly a "thud" either.

I'm wondering this too. Chrome browser just passed Safari in user numbers...

No. They've realized something that you obviously haven't.

Google benefits from people being on the internet. Period. They have such a large market presence in online advertising that their only job right now is to get more eyes on the internet. Hence Gmail. Hence Youtube. Hence Android. Hence ChromeOS.

They're using some products as testing grounds for other things. Google Voice voicemail was a testbed for their voice recognition software which is now a selling point in their Android OS. Google Chrome was a testbed for minimalism + webapps. Now they're moving forward with ChromeOS.

Android? Non-thud.

Google Voice? Non-thud.

Google Apps for Domains? Non-thud.

I actually like Chrome as well-- far superior to IE (which I'm forced to use on work machines).

Google Docs seems like a nice product too; I just haven't really integrated its use into my daily routine yet.

There are a number of good things that Google has put out for people to use. Heck, they've done enough that there may even be a market for integrators and third party enhancements for their stuff... Wait, there is... »www.google.com/apps/intl/en/busi···dex.html

To all liberals: I am NOT one of your parents, so get the heck out of my wallet. It's time for you to grow up and take some personal responsibility for taking care of yourselves, which means not relying on the government to give it all to you.
