Re: Same as always from Google said by Cheese:said by Matt3:said by toddbs98: What more do you expect from Google, lots of hype and media frenzy but nothing really new or exciting. That is not always true. The Android 2.0 OS is stunning, especially considering the fact that it's newly released. Most of what this phone can do is simply because of the Android 2.1 OS, which can be hacked onto any other Android phone and will be offically released for them soon. Couple all that with the fact that it's on T-Mobile, it wasn't cheaper than many other Android phones, and the Snapdragon 1GHz processor, while fast, isn't by any means the fastest out, and you get this type of response. What really irks me, is that my Moment came with 1.5, I know there is a 1.6 and 2.0. And who knows when it will be available I'm not saying it will work, but if your Moment isn't heavily customized by Samsung, you *may* be able to just dump the Android release on it directly from Google. That is how I upgraded my Droid. It even kept the VCast apps store in the Android Market.
Have you looked for an enthusiast forum for the Moment? Ah ha, here you go: »androidforums.com/samsung-moment/ -- trafficcloak.com - pptp/sstp vpn services |

sivranOpera convertPremium join:2003-09-15 Arlington, TX kudos:1 | reply to Matt3 You actually bought the Motorola Droid?
My sympathies. I took one look at the keyboard on it and said hell no--there's a reason they don't make calculators with keypads like that anymore. If Motorola cheaped out on that, what else might they have cheaped out on? No thanks. -- In dadkins' memory, Think outside the Fox... |

sivranOpera convertPremium join:2003-09-15 Arlington, TX kudos:1 | So you tried every phone you've ever even considered? You never judge anything just from a look and feel? Motorola cheaped out in an obvious way on one of the most important parts of the phone. I'm sure that didn't raise any red flags for you since you bought it, but it sure as hell did for me. -- In dadkins' memory, Think outside the Fox... |

It was missing a row of keys and very hard to press...felt like a keyboard from 3+ yrs ago. Horrible... --

What throws everyone off is the placement of the button on the right. Once you figure out that you have to shift your left thumb over one column of keys, you're good. -- trafficcloak.com - pptp/sstp vpn services |

 | reply to Cheese definitely not cheap, hardware specs to die for, and its one of the lightest phones out there even lighter and thinner than the iphone 3gs.
it is the best phone running android right now. |

 | reply to sivran Having owned the Droid a month I will admit that the keypad is not the best out there, but .... It's not a case of "cheaping out" the phone seems to be well made (of metal, why its so heavy). I think its more of a case of keeping the phone reasonably thin while providing a usable keyboard with decent ergonomics if not key travel / feel. I personally will always slide the keypad out over using the on-screen keyboard. |
