 | doubtful.. sometimes its the high cost of upstart vs the benefits & drawbacks of the technology... look at DSL for example.. the ultra high prices and under-delivering of promises killed mass adoption of the technology (not withstanding AT&T's using it as a pivot technology for FTTP later on). there are so many other technologies around.. flavors of 802.11, 3g, 4g, hspda, wimax, lte, etc... | | |

DSL, even when it's not used as a last mile for FTTP, has been competitive with cable since it first started rolling out. The only time it wasn't competitive is when cable was also starting and prices were all over the place.
Maybe you live in an undeserved DSL area, but in most urban areas, DSL is just as prevalent, and moreso in places that provide hotspot access. | | RR ConductorNWP RR Inc.,serving NW CAPremium join:2002-04-02 Redwood Valley, CA kudos:1 1 edit | said by lidocaineus:said by pricing :

Maybe in urban areas, but in most rural and less populated areas cable has won. Where I live, the Central Office (AT&T) isn't even equipped with DSL, and even if it was we're around 20,000 cable feet from the CO, however, we have Comcast HSI Blast!(16000/2000). The closest CO with DSL to me is in Ukiah, 9 miles south. -- You've got to stand for something, or you'll fall for anything. | |
