1 edit | [ Extreme] Problems with Connection, SMC Gateway/Router
Hey guys, my connection is acting up big time right now, don't know what the problem is at all.
Basically I have a connection to the internet, right now I am on the connection, but I can only access a some sites, others either don't load or load partially. For example I can watch videos on YouTube but not justin.tv... I am in Waterloo.
In addition I cannot connect to xbox live, I actually discovered the problem when I got disconnected from a game and wasn't able to reconnect.
My gateway/router is the SMC8014G-W (a piece of crap if I must say) and it's giving me the following Cable Errors:
Time:10/15/09 13:48:01, Level:critical, Content:No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out Time:10/15/09 13:48:22, Level:critical, Content:UCD invalid or channel unusable Time:10/15/09 13:49:31, Level:critical, Content:No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out Time:10/15/09 13:49:32, Level:critical, Content:Ranging Request Retries exhausted Time:10/15/09 13:50:08, Level:critical, Content:No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out Time:10/15/09 13:50:28, Level:critical, Content:UCD invalid or channel unusable Time:10/15/09 13:50:28, Level:critical, Content:SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire QAM/QPSK symbol timing Time:10/15/09 13:50:29, Level:critical, Content:SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to receive MAC SYNC frame within time-out period Time:10/15/09 13:50:29, Level:critical, Content:SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire QAM/QPSK symbol timing Time:10/15/09 13:51:32, Level:critical, Content:No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out Time:10/15/09 13:51:34, Level:critical, Content:Ranging Request Retries exhausted Time:10/15/09 13:51:47, Level:critical, Content:No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out Time:10/15/09 13:52:34, Level:critical, Content:Received Response to Broadcast Maintenance Request, but no Unicast Maintenance opportunities received - T4 timeout Time:10/15/09 13:52:45, Level:critical, Content:No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out Time:11/09/09 06:48:23, Level:warning, Content:DHCP WARNING - Non-critical field invalid in response Time:11/09/09 07:18:50, Level:critical, Content:Received Response to Broadcast Maintenance Request, but no Unicast Maintenance opportunities received - T4 timeout Time:11/09/09 07:18:50, Level:critical, Content:SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire QAM/QPSK symbol timing Time:11/09/09 07:20:07, Level:critical, Content:SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to receive MAC SYNC frame within time-out period Time:11/09/09 07:20:07, Level:critical, Content:SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire QAM/QPSK symbol timing Time:11/09/09 07:20:21, Level:warning, Content:DHCP WARNING - Non-critical field invalid in response
There is only one cable going from the router to the wall, no splitting etc and the cable visually looks fine.
Anyone have any idea whats going on? I will call Rogers tomorrow.
EDIT: I noticed others are having similar problems, mods feel free to delete if necessary. | | Anon
@rogers.com | Same experience in Mississauga (Erin Mills area). | | earthman
@rogers.com | reply to FedUp I'm on regular connection and I am having the same problem! I cannot log on to Facebook. I couldn't even get on FB working on my iPhone 3G connection (wireless)!!! | | darnrogers
@netpath.net
| reply to FedUp ditto!
example of problem: I can access google, but can not make any direction connection to easynews.com (great service btw!). When I ping easynews, I get a timeout, however, I am able to connect to easynews only by turning on hotspotshield (a VPN service) and then connecting.
Thus it appears rogers has some major dns issues going on.
I have the same shitty SMC router, and Extreme Plus. | | Paul Escobar
@rogers.com
| reply to FedUp I live in Mississauga, & have the same problem. I'm on a lite connection.
Only some sites load completely, like Google. Other sites only load partially, like HuffingtonPost. And then there are sites that won't load at all, like WinAmp & Wikipedia.
Also, the Rogers website is running pretty slow. It's producing some "maintenance" error message when I try to view the "Internet Usage" stats.
I've done everything possible with my router & modem. Doesn't do anything.
Guess I'll wait this out, unless someone has a solution. | | anon
@rogers.com | reply to Anon same here | | anon
@rogers.com | Fixed by switching off the crappy rogers dns server | |
