Can anyone get this to decode? I found this RTTY at 173.395MHz, and I can't get HRD/DM780 to decode any of it. JAWS is acting up when I try to change baud rates, and since I don't know what the rate is anyway, I can't figure it out. |

Are there any wireless utility meters in your area? |

| I don't know. This was copied from the radio at the hospital, so the antenna is >150' above the ground, so it could have come from a pretty wide area.
I tried looking it up, but JAWS isn't behaving properly on the radioreference site (I think I'm having problems with JAWS itself again...) and didn't find anything. |

From Radioreference.com
I believe that frequencies in that band are narrow, so is it possible that you were a little off on the frequency?
I see where I live the Airport and Xenia RWD have frequencies licensed in that band, And they're both 6K00F2D which means FM Digital Data 6Khz wide... Probably the reason HRD wont decode it... I dont know if HRD can do digital packet.
--EDIT-- Looking thru the licenses now... Now that I figured out what county Columbia is.
You seem to be 125 off on that frequency. I found several licenses. 173.39625

I dont know if your software can even read them...

| Wanna bet that's not RTTY but a FSK SCADA system something like MOSCAD, further I am willing to bet if the signal strength was measured it would be determined to be a master/slave polling system, I base that on the fact the transmission sounds like it is not continuous.

| reply to burner50 Based on the FCC database and the described locations (tanks standpipes etc.) it appears to be a master slave SCADA system for the Boone County Consolidated Public Water Supply District.

| That must be it.
I don't know anything about SCADA. What does it do, send water pressure/flow, etc?
Is there a program that will decode it, or would there even be anything to see?

It has an 850hz shift, but I can't get it to decode. It's been there all night since about 0600Z on... Anyone have any ideas? |
