| [WIN7] Migrating iTunes to Windows 7
Using itunes 9.0.1.8 and wanting to know how to migrate into Windows 7. I subscribe to many podcasts, and don't want to go through the process of re-subscribing again. Is there a way to do this? I'm not interested in saving any of the music, as I have it all backed up, it's just mainly the podcast settings I want to migrate. |

| reply to Paul928 Anytime I need to re-install the OS or upgrade, I just back up the iTunes folder in "My Music" and restore after iTunes has been installed. Everytime all my settings, music, etc come back. -- We don't give a d@mn for the whole state of Michigan... we're from OHIO! O!H! ... I!O! |

Backup your "iTunes" folder (in My Music) to somewhere, Install Windows 7, install iTunes, run iTunes (it will automatically create the iTunes folder in "My Music" again, and then simply drag the folder back.
When you re-run iTunes it'll read everything fine. |

1 edit | reply to kw Will it "fix" the iTunes library? Moving from XP the music is in c:\documents and settings\user\my documents\my music\iTunes\
In Windows Vista and 7 it is in c:\users\user\music\iTunes
Does it also work if you change the user name?
I seem to recall having problems in the past because the itunes library stores the path to the music. -- NOTHING justifies terrorism. We don't negotiate with terrorists. Those that support terrorists are terrorists. |
