[Speed] Slow speeds in Jersey City, NJ?

I don't know when this started happening exactly, but I noticed it around 12 in the afternoon saturday(today) speeds weren't constant like they always are..which is around 1.50 mB/sec, I dunno..my speeds just like fluxuate alot and I get around 1.30 mB/sec. Anyone else noticing this?

Where are you in Jersey City? I'm in the Heights and speeds are fine. Consistently getting around 60Mbps (around 3-4MBps) on speedtests.

you fluctuated for a few hours by .2MBps? and that's a problem? It could just be the servers you are downloading from...

Jersey City is pretty good when it comes to loads. Only Downtown is somewhat congested with some nodes 300 or up. But most of Jersey City is between 50 to 150 modems so traffic is pretty much good.

Ultimately what matters most is how many modems are on each CMTS downstream and upstream port though

Without virtual splits we'd have much bigger issues...

Where I live, we only have 83 DOCSIS equipment in here. Most in Jersey City are around 50-150 per node. Downtown is pretty much screwed up a bit as apartment buildings are popping up everywhere so you'll see some nodes there with 400-500 DOCSIS equipment.

How do I know? Pretty simple. If you work for Comcast you know what program you'll use. It's open to even the lowest level technician.

Well thanks for responding and confirming that you are indeed a CC employee.

I had connectivity problems (timeouts and slow) for 2 days in central jersey. Seems to be OK now.

I think it's obvious if I know node traffic eh?

Anyway, been getting great D3 speeds for ultra in my area.

Whatever. We can't read minds here. You could have been/maybe still could be a fake.. This is the internet. There are those who pretend to be something/know something that they are not/do not.

Without wanting to start a new thread, does my line test indicate a problem I should look into more?

I've had calls today that are in a 500-DOCSIS-equipment node but they were fine today after doing some pings for a few hours.

I think it would merit a trouble call if you're really having issues. Call the local Comcast number instead of the 800 number. Lots more chances of getting a rep that knows their stuff when it comes to online service.

What are you signals by the way?

I know the downstream is bad. Is the upstream crappy to?
