| Alternatives to Smartview for Server 2003
Hi
I'm trying to get my lovely new novatel u760 working on a Windows Server 2003 machine. I've configured the usb device on an XP PC and connected to t'Internet. I managed to successfully install the drivers on my Server 2003 PC, but now I'm stuck.
The Smartview software refuses to install (pops up a message saying "You must be running XP, 2000 or Vista" and closes).
Is there any other software I can use to get this blasted modem to connect?
Many thanks! |

| You can try Novatel Connection Manager. Details are in the second post of my website: »www.evdo-tips.com -- ... need help? »evdo-tips.com/ |

| Thank you for your reply.
Unfortunately, when I follow the link on your site, I select my device from the list (Ovation U760) and on the following page, there's no link to the Novatel Connection Manager - just the Smartview software.
I'll take the Connection Manager from another Novatel product & see if that'll install on Windows Server and recognize this darned device... |

mmm. That software isn't happy either. It'll install, but then says "Insert device" and I do, but it never sees it.
The device is installed happily into windows, but the connection manager doesn't see it (maybe because it's for a different model?) |

| email Novatel support and tell them you want to use their software for the 760 - not SmartView. With luck, they may be accommodating, might give you other solutions as well. -- ... need help? »evdo-tips.com/ |
