| Centuryembarqlink Dynamic IP
Hello.
I searched the FAQ for this, but the FAQ is pretty much a desert of information.
So, I'll ask here: What method is CenturyLink/Embarq using for dynamic IP addresses in SW Florida (Naples to be exact)? Is it garden variety DHCP or some form of PPPoE? I've got a static now but since the price increased to $10 it is not really worth it. My problem is that unless DHCP is used my wildly unstable line won't be usable. PPPoE would not work at all. |

1 edit | In general - Embarq was moving to all DHCP (when they first started, it was PPPoE). I don't see any reason for CenturyLink to discontinue this practice.
I changed from Static IP to DHCP for the same reason - and it hasn't been any issue. My "DHCP" IP address doesn't change often (as long as my router is still up - which is practically all the time). |
