@myvzw.com | yes, but at least it's more than one channel and besides Starz isn't taking movies from the premiums and reselling like epix is doing. |

Question regarding free previews on FiOS. Are the QAM channels switched to be "in the clear", or are the STB's just instructed to decrypt the channel for all?
Thanks, Tony |

Thanks, Tony Think I read (in other posting here) that they are in the clear for duration of the promo. Easier to implement then sending out the code to each subscriber's box to unlock Starz viewing. |

Is there an easy way for mean to glean this info from my STB (QIP 7216)? |

With the TV on, tune the channel(s) you want to find out about. Enter the diagnostics by prssing this sequence of buttons POWER -> SELECT ->SELECT Go to the D06 screen and it will list the frequency of the channel (even if it is encoded). Then use the attached spreadsheet to find the QAM number for that frequency. You will have to find the sub-channel by trial and error once the channel is in the clear (keep in mind that Verizon only puts 2 sub-channels per HD). Good luck! -- REMEMBER: Stupidity should be painful !! |

Is there an easy way for mean to glean this info from my STB (QIP 7216)? Here in Reston, NVA, Starz 840 is on QAM 105. The other three, 842, 845, and 847 are on QAM 18 |

Here in VHO-3, the actual #'s were all over the place when I did a re-scan of my DVR (my own DVR with a digital tuner, not Verizon's). |
