1 edit | 1 USB port on case- what could it be?
[edit] Apparently not HW related, more a software thing...
On a CoolerMaster Praetorian case, only one USB port is actng flakey...
- Plug in a optical mouse > no light (the optical part). XP reports 'not installed' under Device Mngr.
- Plug in a thumb drive - no problem (I think) that is, I can access the directory structure, move, copy, etc. teh U# system works too.
- Plug in an external drive - it works as well.
All indications lead me to the mouse... I've jiggled the mouse cable, looked at it twice, opened the case and inspected the cables, their 'headers' i.e. the modular plugs (there are 2 for this case).
And Device Mngr. only shows a yellow exclamation icon under the codition where the mouse is installed.
does a mouse draw more power than the other devices I've mentioned?
I'm stumped.
