I've been with bell for what seems to be forever, and only recently have my games just started to lag relentlessly (it might just be XBOX being dumb though). Anyways, I'm on their 16M Line I'm paying the original price minus 35% because of my works purchase plan. My question is in regards to people's opinion on what providers can guarantee that I don't lag consistently. (I have brothers and we have two XBOX 360s, and on Friday Nights the our ping spikes when both 360s are on (Halo 3, MW, etc).
I was thinking of jumping to Rogers, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to get a deal like I'm getting with Bell, or if it would even solve my lag problem.
Also my ping spikes around 9PM and nightly (it's usually 32 PING, but it goes up to like 100ish) and no one is using the line other than surfing the web). |

It might be alot of things, completely unrelated to your internet itself.
- The actual game server - Routing issues - Like you said, maybe a XBL problem
Really, submitting a traceroute to the gaming server might help on this. |

| reply to n0oblettz I just did a tracerout, everything is fine. Maybe I'll try it at night. Still though, any recommendations on switching ISP or is this the best I can go with for now?
My speeds pretty much are constantly 1345/690 Ping is 32 constantly except those nightly spikes to 100ish. Will I get a better raw deal anywhere else? |

@videotron.ca
| reply to n0oblettz at 35% off for 16-meg, I don't think many will come close to cost and speed.
You can always call Rogers and tell them what you pay with bell and tell them to match the price for the similar speed tier. If they do, this would be an interesting offer |

| reply to n0oblettz At a similar speed it would be 10M line I believe it's their Express. And if they match the price I'm paying with bell, I still lose speed. Do you think Rogers' ping will be comparably lower (assuming that my ping stays at a constant 32). I'm really just trying to compare as much as possible. |

If you're with a good provider like Teksavvy and you have fastpath, you'll get equivalent or better pings than many Rogers subscribers. |

| reply to n0oblettz We just recently got Bell Internet Max 16, as of October 15/09. We were with Rogers and found them far too expensive for our liking. We find Bell's Internet Max 16 consistent, fast and reliable; albeit we can't complain at the price of $39.95 ongoing; as well, minus $5.00 of our home phone (bundle package). I just did a Speed Test and Ping Test as shown in the attachment. We're located dwtn Toronto in the Yonge/Bloor area on Asquith Avenue (CO directly across the street at 15 Asquith). We're quite pleased with the service. |

Um... they pimp it?
Seriously though I've noticed that certain Bell customers complain of pings rising in the evenings, whereas Teksavvy customers generally have the same experience no matter what time of day.
I realise it's the same last-mile and all that. It just seems to me like Sympatico customers complain a lot more than Teksavvy's |
