I wouldn't cancel your main line for this thing. However it does have some good uses.

I have been using Magic Jack for four months now. The service works well 95% of the time. I have my magicjack supporting 6 wireless phones located in each room of my house. The sound quality is less than analog due to compression, but more than adequate for any purpose as long as you have a fast and reliable internet connection.
I primarily use a cell phone for most calls as I am a mobile worker. I love magic jack because I can have a cool phone number that is withing my area code for only $20 a year. It is a very nice service to have in case my cell phone is not near me or perhaps lost somewhere.
I have read several forums on Magic Jack to learn tricks of the trade it getting it to work better. I know the reason most people have issues with it is because of the firmware. On each reboot of your computer their is a 30% chance the device will not be detected correctly and drive letters will not be assigned appropriately when the system comes back up. To fix this is an easy issue of just plugging your MJ into another USB port and rebooting once again. This always fixes the problem. Use a new free app called Hide MJ. This will remove the annoying popup every time a call is in session. These two issues sum up all the problems people have with Magic Jack.
My computer is always on and online. The messaging system is very reliable whether you MJ is connected or not. I would recommend it to all computer literate friends and family.
Genuine happy user of Magic Jack! |
