CCTS Annual Report 2008-2009

The Commissioner for Complaints for Telecommunications Services released their annual report.

Out of curiosity - Has anyone here ever complained to them?

»www.ccts-cprst.ca/en/

From their website:

The Commissioner for Complaints for Telecommunications Services (CCTS) is an independent agency with a mandate to receive, to facilitate the resolution of, and, if necessary, resolve eligible consumer and small business complaints relating to certain retail telecommunications services. The CCTS strives to do this in an accessible, impartial, timely, efficient and informal manner, after direct communication between a consumer or small business and a CCTS member has proven ineffective.

What we do:

If you have a problem sorting out a complaint with a Telecommunications Service Provider (TSP) and that company is one of our members, CCTS may be able to help.

Our job at CCTS is to investigate complaints fairly. We listen to both sides of the story and look at the facts. The service is voluntary and offered at no cost to consumers and small businesses.

We can deal with complaints about:

* Local telephone services (including calling features)
* Long distance telephone services
* Wireless telephone services
* Internet access services

If the CCTS determines that your TSP has not reasonably performed its obligations toward you, the Commissioner may order the TSP to do certain things to resolve your complaint, within the bounds of the CCTS' Procedural Code.

I placed a complaint to the CCTS against Bell for refusing to provision my line when I dropped Sympatico to go with Teksavvy.

The CCTS's answer was that since I was not a Bell/Sympatico customer, I had no grounds for the complaint. I tried to get them to understand that although I was no longer a Bell/Sympatico customer, Bell was still responsible for provisioning my connection regardless of which provider I chose to go with. CCTS still did not see the reasoning of my argument.

To folks unawares of the CCTS, it is funded and operated by the same companies that you are voicing your complaints against. Fox guarding the fox-den so to speak. CCTC was mandated by the CRTC.

With that amount, I'm suprised they didn't outsource to India a year ago ... they could be saving more than half what they spend today .

Write Konrad directly and explain why the CCTS, which he highly recommends, is a farce.

CCTS is the msot useless piece a govt waste er regulatory body ever...its even worse then the CRTC cause i dont really know what they are supposed to do. THEY say they do stuff but when you complain they tell you to goto another agency ( SERIOUSLY )

Even Geist reported this crap.
This is what happens when you let the "industry" as the mpaa and RIAA would allow for.

Another undemocratic setup that just end runs democracy.
