[DSL] higher pings?

has anyone been getting higher pings than usual lately?

i've always had about 10-20ms to some servers i connect to daily, after a whole bunch of downtime/weird connectivity, i've noticed pingtimes have gone up to about 50-60ms

also, speeds for me have also gone down a bit

320KB/sec dls to 260KB/sec dls

also, i saw a thread regarding intermittent sync in the SJ area, which i also experienced, not sure if its related with this...

Hi David,

I took a look at your current line readings and they look very marginal. We will want to fully trouble shoot and isolate the line with our support team. I have gone ahead and opened a trouble ticket. A support representative should be contacting you shortly. If you miss their call please give them a call back at 866-491-7221.

Thanks

Re: [DSL] higher pings?

well, my att visit was scheduled for today from 4-8, it is now 7:36, i doubt they will be back so here goes..

they were supposed to "check" my lines but that guy didnt even set foot in my apt...
saw the guy parked outside ~3:45pm, he came up to my building but did not ask to come in, waited anohter half hour at his van, my dsl goes down, the van is gone..
about an hour later, the car is back, but i dont see anyone doing any sort of testing...

NO IMPROVEMENT if they even did anything, that is...

DSL Down Up
Current Rate: 2176 kbs 512 kbs
Max Rate: 2176 kbs 784 kbs
Current Connection:
Current Noise Margin: 5.0 dB 15.0 dB
Current Attenuation: 44.8 dB 31.5 dB
Current Output Power: 19.2 dBm 11.9 dBm

pings are still high (even to the gateway), still crappy speeds

very disappointed.

Our support team is scheduled to follow up with AT&T in the morning to get an update on the dispatch and what the next steps are. They will be in touch with you tomorrow with an update.

Your line may need to be profiled down in order to remain stable.

Thanks

Thanks for the update, I got the call from a DSLX rep early this morning and he explained to me what's going on.
He said that the ATT rep was unable to find another line that was better to test with, so it has been escalated up to their wiring people.

It would have been nice it that ATT at least knocked on my door and told me he actually did something...

patiently awaiting progress...........

Here's the story

1. First ATT guy comes out, finds out something is wrong with outside wiring/terminals, tells someone to come out to check that.

2. Next day, the second ATT person comes out, says he could not get into my house (first ATT guy is later confused as to why he even needed to come to my house to check the outside), leaves with nothing done.

3. First ATT guy comes back again, checks my internal wiring (as expected, nothing was wrong), rewires my line outside, back to full speeds.

4. Change from interleave to fastpath = fast pings, fast speeds

5. ???

6. Profit.

Thanks for the help George
