I am looking for good video camera in range of $500-600. What brand should i be looking for? Should i be looking at how big internal hd is more at how big the digital zoom is? Also is hdmi connections makes a different when playing it back on tv?

if battery life is important, look at non hard drive based cameras.

Check this one out, as I bought one 2 months ago. Make sure you have a computer that can handle the large .mts files. You would probably want a Core 2 duo running at least 2.3 ghz with 4 gig of ram. The highest quality setting can fill a 16 gig sdhc card in 85 min.

Instead of buying based on a price range, how about buying based on your needs and functions of your video camera? Kodak makes a pretty nifty HD video camera for around $150. The latest model even has image stabilization. Again, I would base my choices more on what my needs might be rather than how much the camera costs.

Thank you for the link, i haven't been able to find a website that would compare video cameras based on the features. It would make the job much easier.
