 Hosted POP/IMAP/Webmail?

Hey Guys,

We're closing our hosted email offering (webhosting and email are a race to the bottom, there's no money in it unless you're huge) and we're looking for a solid host we can send our clients to. I've looked at Atmail and it looks good (»atmail.com/hosted-email/), but I'm really fumbling in the dark here.

I'm not interested in a Hosted Exchange nor Google Apps/Mail, but rather a solid POP3/IMAP/Webmail solution for a great price (Atmail is $1 per month per mailbox) with solid technical support.

Any ideas or referrals?

Rollernet.us is something that tburke See Profile suggested for someone else in a thread back in February. I took a look and have been using them ever since (just as my secondary mx).

Their pricing is reasonable and the service has been solid for me.

The 9AM PT support kills it for me and they don't offer general technical support by phone. This will be direct end users I'll be referring. They don't have a technical support staff, but are business customers.

Thanks for the referral though.

We've been using Rackspace E-mail here at work for a few years, and in the course of two years have probably had somewhere between 6-12 hours of downtime (rough estimate since I don't remember any long-term outages). We've been with them since their Webmail.us days (then Mailtrust, now Rackspace E-mail). I'm not sure on pricing because I believe ours is grandfathered in, but it depends on the number of boxes being purchased.

They also offer mixed Rackspace E-mail and Hosted Exchange accounts on the same domain, if one or more of your clients were interested in having only a couple Exchange boxes and the rest standard POP3/IMAP/Webmail.

The support should be along the lines of Rackspace's usual standards.

Rackspace's offering looks great, especially the dedicated transition team. Hell, I think I might outsource our email to them, as it's just a few of us.

If you get referral credit, please IM me whatever info I need.

I'll second rackspace.. used them from the webmail.us days... one thing about them though... when we migrated from webmail.us to an internal exchange server webmail.us did not play nice, and would not allow anyone on the webmail.us account to send emails to the new exchange accounts, so our changeover had to be rushed.

Thanks Everyone, we went with Rackspace. I liked their combo of price, 24x7 support, and their web interface is fast and simple.

Ran into a pretty severe limitation just now though. You can't add alias domains yourself, you have to ask technical support to do it for you. While not a huge deal for most, that's pretty brutal for us.

I've had an account with Pair.com for nearly ten years and have several clients hosted there on separate accounts.

They are not the least expensive, but they are privately owned, profitable, amazingly open with their customers, and very reliable.
