| LAN Settings after Windows Update
I service a bunch of computers in a condo that has their own cable broadband.
My customers are calling me with a connection problem, browser not opening. "Page cannot be displayed."
Through a stroke of luck, the guy that watches out for their closed TV happened to find that by going to Internet Explorer "Tools/Internet Options/Connections/LAN Settings" and unchecking "Automatically detect settings", you now connect with no problem.
I was setting up a new PC with Windows 7 when I found this problem. I don't know whether this is a default setting or what but I'm curious as to why this would only happen to this particular service. I have mucho customers with Comcast and ATT DSL and this place is the only one with that problem.
Anyone have any idea why this happened? Pete |

| Not just one customer. Some are using routers, others are connecting directly to the cable modem. I fix the problem by having them uncheck the Automatic... in the LAN settings and fixes the problem. The system is supplied through 2 T1 lines from Liquid. They no nothing about it. Since its a fixable problem, so I'm not overly concerned. Pete |
