Re: [Rant] United Air Lines - (LONG)

Only when they are packaged in soft sided carry on type bags. This is why SKB makes a travel case for flight travel.

I believe the FAA or some "government" agency recently changed the delayed baggage rules AGAINST the airlines, in fact I think the article said the airlines HAD been getting away with murder for a while, and they are now SEVERELY penalized for delayed baggage. You may want to do some research, you may be entitled to bucks for them delaying your bags..

Good luck.

The FAA issued "guidance" to clarify their rules this October. The rules are still the same but many airlines would issue documents containing deceitful language such as stating that if the airline gets you your bag within 24 hours they don't have to pay for incidentals like shaving cream etc. It's in 14 CFR part 254 which spells out if your bag is delayed, damaged or lost you can get up to $3300 in damages.

As long as you can prove that you had to spend money on something that would have been in your bag (clothing, toiletries etc) then the airline is responsible for compensating you.

That's what I remember reading, but I think there was a part that stated that they were ON THE HOOK, so to speak, if the bags were delayed beyond being on the next flight, I think, for monetary compensation too.

Well, like I said, the "bag fairy" brought it straight to my residence sometime during the night/next morning. We didn't find it until someone opened the front door to check the temperature.

incidentally, they were charged $14 for the delivery. I guess that's why they charge $15 for checking baggage...

They've always been "on the hook" if your bag doesn't arrive with you, assuming you can prove damages.
