| 3347-02 DSL Modem with ATT
Has anyone ever tried to upgrade the firmware of the 3347-02 modem with the an 3347W-ENT firmware? I guess I'm just curious that the hardware is similar and the only thing different is the firmware (for the 3300 models that is) ?
Reason I would be interested in the ENT firmware is that I'd like to take advantage of managing my 5 static IPs better.
Let me know if what I'm assuming is correct or if I'll just brick my modem
Thanks! |

| If your modem is like the 3346 and 3347 units that I have seen, the ability to use the enterprise firmware is locked out. They say that a key can be purchased which will allow the enterprise firmware to be installed, but I have no idea whether the keys are still being sold and what they cost. You would have to contact Motorola (they now own the Netopia brand).
Before falling in love with the idea of using the enterprise firmware, you should know that this firmware is configurable only through a Command Line Interface- there is no graphical configuration option. Some people are comfortable with using a CLI, others are not. |

1 edit | reply to donny619 I have a client who upgraded to the ENT firmware, be aware that AT&T tech support will be clueless about the command line as well, you are on your own once you upgrade. They wanted the VPN tunnels. -- I tried to remain child-like, all I achieved was childish. |

| reply to donny619 Before I email AT&T about the unlock (I figure I'm good because this is a business line). Is the ENT firmware what I'm looking for?
Basically, I want more flexibility over 5 static IP addresses. What I mean by that is currently, I can only port forward from my main IP. I can use the other 5 but only through NAT (IPMaps on the router). However, this doesn't allow me to forward, or close any ports from those other 5 IPs.
I'm guessing I need that "IP Filter Sets" functionality? Thanks again for the responses. |

| reply to donny619 said by donny619 : Now to get that "key" =] Motorola/Netopia, not att sells keys. If you get the modem to accept the ent firmware, it may delete all of the feature keys, and you may have to pay for new ones. |

| Hopefully the people in Motorola tech support would know whether the feature keys would be deleted. If they would be, perhaps there is some way to export the existing keys to your PC, so that they can be re-entered into the 3347 after installing the enterprise firmware. |
