| [help] Moving from Office Live hosting to another Host
Does anyone on here know of anyway to transfer your domain from Office Live to another host? I can't find anything listed on their website regarding this.
The reason for this move is my company will be a feature story in a Magazine that will be published in Jan. and I don't want to end up being kicked off the Office Live hosting without a host to turn to.
Currently my website is very small, and does some e-com (powered by PayPal on OfficeLive) but I will need the option to use a shopping cart as well for my new Online Processor.
So with that, any ideas on how to move my domain from MSFT's Office Live (i own and it is registered to myself) and on any hosts that would be able to take on my website?
Thanks! |

| Is there an option to download your entire account with OneLive? Something like a backup file of sorts for all of your directories and what not?
I could have sworn there was a thread about this issue here waaaay back, and it was quite the process, not even sure if it could be easily done. -- Block Accounts | UseNet Now |

| I need to keep the Domain thats the thing. I can easily recreate everything else as I have backups of my own and having the website rebuilt from the ground up.
Since I paid $5 for the domain, I think I should get to keep it regardless of who i use as a Host. |

| Oh, I thought you wanted the website and all related material. Did you register the domain with Office Live Hosting directly? »ask.officelive.com/smallbusiness···845.aspx »www.ehow.com/how_4799449_name-of···ost.html
Personally I would transfer it to Godaddy just to get it away from Microsoft, unless you already have a new registrar? Once with GoDaddy you can find a new web host. -- Block Accounts | UseNet Now |

| reply to hottboiinnc I got a free domain through Office Live a few years ago. Called them up (they have a contact number on the site somewhere) and was able to transfer it the same day.
I know this is pretty vague, but I just wanted to say that it is possible. -- irc.removed.us - #dslr |

| reply to hottboiinnc I remember a few threads about this on another forum, and people had to call about it to get it done.
But yeah, I would also transfer the domain to another registrar like namecheap, or godaddy. -- »vivicalhosting.com - Reliable, and very affordable web hosting, VPS, and Dedicated solutions.

As you said, it looks like they're not answering calls about this anymore. Were you able to get through to them some other way? I did this two years ago with one of my domains so my memory is a bit fuzzy about it now. -- irc.removed.us - #dslr |

| reply to removed here is what MSFT has to say about Office Live now:
Hello Kyle,
Thank you for writing to Microsoft Office Live Support. My name is Bhaskar Saha and I am creating Service Request # XXXXXXXXXXXX, so that we can track this.
Based on your email, I understand that you want to cancel your Microsoft Office Live account and transfer your domain to some other web host. You also want to speak to someone from our end regarding this. I realize the importance of your concern and I will provide you with all the relevant information regarding this.
Kyle, in order to transfer your domain to some other web host service provider, you first need to cancel your Microsoft Office Live domain from your current Microsoft Office Live account. After the cancellation you will be provided with the Domain Registration Key (DRK). With the help of DRK you need to unlock the domain from your registrar's (Melbourne IT) end. After you unlock your domain you will be provided with the Authorization Key with the help of which you can transfer your web host.
In order to cancel your Microsoft Office Live account, follow the mentioned below steps:
1. Sign in to your Microsoft Office Live account at »officelive.com/ using your Windows Live ID and the associated password. 2. On the home page of your Microsoft Office Live account, click on "Account Management" under "Manage Your Office Live Account". 3. Now, click on "Cancel your account" on the middle of the page. 4. Click on Next. 5. Select the reason for cancelling the account. 6. Click on Next and enter your alternate email address where you want the cancellation confirmation email. 7. Now, click on Cancel this account and follow the instructions.
You will be receiving the DRK along with the cancellation confirmation in your Owner's Live ID. After cancelling your account, follow the below mentioned steps to unlock and manage your domain name from Melbourne IT using the DRK of your domain:
1. Go to »www.melbourneit.com.au/cc/godirect/ 2. Enter your domain name and registry key and click on continue. 3. Click on 'create a new account' below the text box where you are prompted for My account password. A. Fill up all the information needed: a) Contact Information. b) Login Information. c) Other Information.. B. The Country Code is "1" for United States (for UK it is 44) C. The email address you enter must not be related to the domain you are attempting to transfer/manage. 4. After filling up all the information, check the box that says I have read and understood the Sign up Terms and Conditions. I agree to abide by the terms and conditions, as stated there in. 5. Click Create. Now your account is created. 6. On the My Account Console page, click Logout on the right side of the page. 7. Now you will be redirected to the Melbourne IT web site. 8. Click Manage Domain Name on the right side of the page. 9. Type your domain and registry key. 10. Click Enter Management. 11. Click Transfer management to Melbourne IT. 12. Sign in using the username and password for your Melbourne IT account using the username and password, which you created for your Melbourne IT account. 13. Click Continue after you have verified all the information on the page. 14. Click on My Account console. 15. Click on the link "View/Manage domain name" under the Domain Names. 16. Click on your domain name (customer domain name) under the Domain Name section. 17. Click on the Unlock Domain Name. 18. To change name server, click on Change Delegation Details under Name Server Details on the right side of the page. Here, you can change the domain name server settings for your new service provider. 19. To obtain new authorization code in order to transfer your domain, click Retrieve Domain Name (authinfo) Password (on the same page on point 17).
After following the above-mentioned steps, you will be able to unlock and transfer your domain from Melbourne IT. You will also get the authorization code by following the above mentioned steps.
However, if you are unable to cancel the account at your end and want us to cancel it, then provide us with the below mentioned information associated with your Microsoft Office Live account:
