| SIP Routing
Trying to do some troubleshooting on my VT connection.
When I attempt to "internet forward" to a valid SIP number like 17775551234@in.callcentric.com, I get an error when dialing my VT number saying the number is either invalid or disconnected.
Forwarding to callcentric through IPKall does work using the exact same SIP address.
Anyone able to give me any suggestions as to what is going on here? -- The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits. |

| Which type phone are you calling from/to. I have (guessing) same issue calling G5# (sip routing) from line 1 hoping to ring Line 2, yet calling from any other (outside) phone works just fine. And can call ipKall# (same sip routing) from line 1 to line 2. |

| There is no phone or adapter involved.
I am in the ViaTalk control panel, under "set forwards" , "internet forwarding". You are supposed to be able to put a sip number in this box and the incoming calls forward to that sip number.
That SIP number is associated with my CallCentric account.

| reply to pende_tim Calling to your own number may be the issue here. Are you calling using your VT phone or other service? Do you have any rules in place for call routing such as anonymous numbers? Have you tried placing a SIP call from your VT line to your CallCentric number?
VT is not very tied into SIP functionality from my observation. Although they have peering with SIPBroker, it's only for inbound and not outbound. Since they generate no revenue for SIP calls, there's not much incentive other than to try and retain customers. |

| reply to pende_tim I just set up a callcentric account and set my ViaTalk number to forward to the callcentric address. I've tested it a bunch of times now and it keeps going through without giving me any issues. For the sake of it, I tried this on a few different VT accounts with various settings.
Obviously there's a point of failure here, but the info posted indicating ViaTalk as such isn't very compelling.
How do you use your callcentric account? Do you have it set up in a PBX? A softphone or ata, possibly? If it's set up in your PBX, what kind of traffic are you seeing? |

| I have my call Centric account setup in a PA2T. There is no POTS number associated with CallCentric. To prove my PAP2T and CallCentric account, calls forwarded from IPKall to this account work and ring through to my line.
Assume my CallCentric SIP number is 1777297xxxx
In the ViaTalk control panel under set forwards, internet forward. I enter 1777297xxxx@in.callcentric.com
When I call my VT number, I get the recording "not a valid number" I have also tried it with a "+ "and a "sip:" in front with the same results.
VTLucas: what format are you using for the string in the internet forwarding box?
I also have a POTS number entry in the Outage Forward 1 box, if that makes any difference. -- The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits. |

| reply to pende_tim I'm using the same syntax:
17772176308@in.callcentric.com
I set up my account the same way - VT number using the Internet Forward feature to the callcentric address, callcentric account registering on a PAP2. I even set an outage forward for the sake of it. My result was the phone connected to the PAP2 ringing, not a disconnected message.
Do you have anything set up on your network to capture packets? If you do, try running that while a call is forwarded to your callcentric SIP address and see if they're sending your PAP2 any traffic. |
