[Fixed] Whats wrong with my canopy?

I think my canopy is a 2.4 one, I looked at the setting and it said 2.4 but I couldnt get any further cause I dont have password. My canopy unit would work fine during the winter at all times until the leaves grew in during the summer and blocked my signal. Then we put the canopy on a 50 ft tower and it got signal back. Now when it gets cold the canopy gets slower. During the day it can play internet radio fine but as the temperature goes down the internet radio starts cutting out. I dont think its the unit since it got replaced. I think it could be the cable doesnt work good in cold weather. The old cable might have been better for winter weather. Also the cable is burried so that might be causing it too. I dont know for sure what the problem is but I want to fix it. Could it be their equipment doesnt work good during the cold? I didnt use to be this way until they upgraded their network.

You've answered your own question:

"I[t] didnt use to be this way until they upgraded their network."

Call your ISP.

Agreed, you need to contact your ISP about this. They should look into it for you.

if it were 900, your problem would be that youre too high, it may be the same thing with the 2.4.

What happens is the higher you get the more chance you have of getting off network interference.

If you manage youre own equipment (if your ISP takes this risk) try lowering it as much as you can afford and not lose signal.

What would be interfering with it?

Steve,

Pass some of what you're smoking tonight over here. It must be something good bro.

The OP already said that the ISP owns the equipment and that the problem didn't surface until they did a network upgrade and the OP doesn't have the password to access the SM.

Im referencing the cold. When it cools, RF propagates further.

but its vicodin, for my "pain"

So I should have them keep my canopy on my house during the winter but during the summer keep it about as high as I get a good signal?

Theres no leaves on the trees during the winter so it should get a good signal on the roof of my house.

Also other people with the same internet say they have no problems and its really reliable. I must have a isolated problem.

Unless you own the equipment you shouldn't touch it.

Call your ISP.

Can a 2.4 ghz canopy interfere with a 5.4 ghz phone? I did notice the pages seemed to respond faster after I unplugged the phone base station and power cycles the canopy but it could just be my mind. It still downloads at dial-up speeds at night.

I would think since the phone is 5.4 and the canopy is 2.4 they wouldnt interfere.

Have you called your ISP yet?

Yeah they got me on a waiting list but I think I fixed it when I turn off the phone base then power cycled the power supply to the canopy. Today it worked through a flash flood like it didnt affect the speed at all. I dont know what was wrong with it but I think I fixed it. Today was a warm day so I hope it works when it gets cold.

If it were me, I would offer to pay them to have them dish the SM to increase the signal. They may think it doesn't need it but if you offer to pay them to do it you'll have better signal and I know if a customer offered to pay us to come dish a SM we'd do it...

At first mine had a dish on it but then when they moved it to the tower they put a round thing on the front of it. Would a dish give a better signal compared to the round thing thats on the front of it?

The round thing is most like a beehive reflector. Yes, a dish will increase the signal from the stinger.

I think thats why the signal isnt as good cause they took off the dish. Im on the waiting list, I will ask them to put a dish on it.

If you can log into the first part of the radio you can see what the signal strength is - it is a negative number and also the RSSI. What are those numbers as well as the jitter?
