Data cards with Windows 7

Hi all,

With Windows 7 coming along, I wonder if my Hauwei EC228 data card provided by Alltel will work? I looked at thier software update and Windows 7 is not listed as of Oct 22. Two calls to Alltel tech support resulted in "not sure" answers. I would appreciate any feedback from those using Windows 7 as i dont want to pluck down $1200 or so for a new computer with Windows 7 unless the data card works. I understand if I get a new data card, I would be forced to get a Verizon contract and lose unlimited data.

Thank you Pioneer for providing that link. I have looked at it often, but it does not list the Huawei EC228 data internet card. This card is rugged and a work horse as I see it. Three calls to the Huawei support group has not resulted in a return answer. One good news though is that at software.alltel.com they are now listing Windows 7 as an operating system as of 11/9/2009. Hopefully, then this issue is being worked on. Once solved, Ill get new computer with solid state hard drive, Windows 7 and all that.

Going to get one of the Intel SSD 160gb drives? That would be nice!!! Remember that LTE is coming and we are all going to need new cards in the somewhat near future also.

Well, to those that care, I got an email finally from Hauwei. The EC228 card is NOT supported by Windows 7 as of 11/11/09. It may be in the future but not date is given. So I guess now its time to explore a new card.
