Re: Why do you like Vonage?

I also like the TA. My old Callvantage MTA-1 was literally a black box. Their upgraded D-Link router was also a black box. You couldn't log into the MTA-1 to get any useful data and the D-Link router was junk and didn't work right.

But doesn't it say something that we see fewer complaints about Vonage, a company with 2 million or so customers, than about companies with a few thousand customers?

I just can't believe that companies that charge 1-2 cents a minute are using the same quality of upstream providers that Vonage is.

You can't just lump all the independent VoIP providers together.

Some are outstanding. Some are average. Some are poor.

On this forum, CallCentric has a 6-month overall rating of 93 percent.

Vonage's is 79 percent, with especially poor scores for customer service when you go to "Latest User Reviews".

I'm glad that it works well for you.

It is saving me a ton of money on International calls with the World Plan.

Their customer service was exceptionally great in helping with a unique situation I had where I was porting out my vonage number which would have cancelled my account (which did not want do) and would have resulted in cancellation fees and possibly having to pay for two month service which I had got free because of referral. So the rep set me up with a another line (second line on the account free for one month which would become my primary line as soon as the first line number was ported out. I thought was a great way to keep an account while porting out the primary number.

There's no doubt any particular company may be an excellent value for a given set of circumstances. Vonage has great reliability (as do some others), voice quality (as do some others) and a very good feature set. If your needs fit that feature set then it's likely Vonage will be a good fit.

You are quite right, I was not trashing any other company, my post was just answering the thread question of "Why do you like Vonage?"
