| reply to bellhater Less expensive in the long run, compared to Verizon or Cablevision.
Service has been reliable for the three years that I've had it.
If my internet service goes out, the calls get forwarded to my cell phone.
I can take my modem and connect it to wherever I have internet service and have Vonage service.
I like the option of providing a secondary local number to relatives in another town so that they can call me with only local rather than long-distance charges.
I was able to port my old phone number. -- Patriotism is not waving a flag, it is living the ideals

| reply to bellhater I'll bite:
(all of these are IMHO): - True POTS replacement (customer for 7+ years - much more reliable then Verizon ever ws for me) - Lot's of Money saved - "The world is flat" pricing with the new World Plan - eliminates 95% of my international charges - All features that I need -- I am addicted to speed --- OOL speed that is --- |

| reply to bellhater Because it introduced me to VoIP in an easy way, gave me great service for years at much lower costs than my old POTS line, and was really reliable. I've since moved on to a more cost effective solution to what I need, but they were a great start for me. |

| reply to bellhater I like Vonage because I had a US number when I lived in Germany.
When I moved back to the US, I did not have to change my number.
My main number is a local number for my dad to call me. I have a virtual number that is local to where I live now.
When we move again (we are military) we will still have the same main phone number, and can get a new virtual number local to where we move to.
I can call my best friend in Germany for free.
I have only had to contact support a couple of times over the last three years, and I had a good experience both times. Vonage went above and beyond to correct my problems.
My cell phone rings when my home phone rings so I need to only give people one number to call. This comes in handy with my childrens schools, doctor clinics, etc.
I have had flawless service with Vonage. When my cable goes out or the electricity goes out, my calls are forwarded to my cell phone.
I get all that for a very reasonable price. |

3 edits | reply to bellhater Price - cheaper than the cable VoiP offerings with more features. Not as cheap as a couple of the bargin outfits there but the features and reliability outwiegh the price on these.
reliable - I have been a Vonage customer (2 lines) for over 6 years now - over that time I can only think of one outage. VERY few issues over the years with Vonage specifically - I can say the majority of issues are ISP related or home router (QoS) related.
Features - unlimited calling to US, Canada, PR and 60 coutries for 24$ HOW CAN YOU BEAT THAT.
iPhone - I can call to my ENTIRE vonage world from my iPhone WITHOUT using any carrier minutes using the free Vonage iPhone app - all included in my 24$ Vonage plan. I have an app for my iPhone that lets me setup simulring from my home number to my iPhone at the touch of a button. My vonage number is in my ATT calling circle so there is no charge on my cell for these calls.
Service: I have never had a problem with service. When my old Cisco ATA's (origional Vonage adapter) seemed to be getting old - I was upgraded at no charge, seamlessly to newer technology. The few times I have had to call support I had positive experience with support
Note: for those who continually complain about the taxes and fees charged by vonage - look at your cell bill or cable bill or electric bill
One more note: My entire cost for Vonage for a year is only a little more than ONE months cell bill - think about that!!!
Vonage is worth EVERY penny |

| reply to bellhater Reliability - have never experienced an outage
Call clarity - sounds like a POTS line
I can call internationally where I need to for free
Considering all of the above, when you pay annually and consider the features, it's reasonably priced

| reply to bellhater "Cheap". I don't call anyone. I barely require a phone (cell or otherwise - I don't even own a cell). Used to be $19/month, now it's $25 after fees and price increases on the 500m plan). Landline basic is $32/month here in town last I had it (years ago) no frills, no long distance. Vonage is a no-brainer. Comcast is way too expeinsive for their voice. -- »www.theexitwound.com |

Like about $5/month, all inclusive. |

Vonage is a fine company but the notion that they are the ONLY good folks around is mistaken, in my view.
And folks are not universally happy with Vonage, either: »User reviews - Vonage |
