4 edits | reply to HorsPlyrBil I don't recommend anybody waste either time or money on the older 1x series modems. They were built to the nearly defunct DVB-S standard. Most providers have been migrating to DVB-S2 for quite a while now. Whereas the -S2 modems are backward compatible, the older series are not forward compatible. Once all the provider gateways are upgraded to S2, the old modems pretty much become paperweights.
And most providers WANT subscribers to upgrade. Most need only a little cajoling to upgrade you for free.
